Say "NO!" To Bethesda's Paid Mods
Updated: Mar 27, 2020

Bethesda Game Studio is releasing another attempt at monetizing mods. This is another money grubbing attempt to squeeze cash out of the creative work of all the great modders out there. Bethesda’s Creation Club is a rebrand of the pathetic attempt they had in the past with Steam.
There is a plethora of problems with trying to pass off mods as DLC worth paying for. Assurance of compatibility, game stability, legal issues with mods similar to each other. Several issues have been addressed in their statement at E3. It’s said that everything will be compatible with their main games and DLC and be strictly curated. Do we believe this is the real question.
Using third party mods to supplement the obvious shortcomings of their games is a slippery slope. Bethesda has relied on modders to make up for their many failings in the most recent titles. Skyrim and Fallout 4 were both sub-par, relying on mods to give them the massive boost they need. By using mod creators as third party contractors to supply them with “DLC”, the likelihood of another game being shipped out in an unfinished state only to be supplemented by their paid mods (aka DLC) is exponentially greater.
Compensation for modders extreme efforts and work is not something I’m against. I have donated to several modders. I don’t like to see such great work go without recognition and compensation but Bethesda’s Creation Club is not the way to do it.
If you are against paid mods I urge you to voice your displeasure. Take to social media and let Bethesda know. Send them an email, tweet, or comment on facebook. We need to voice our opinion that we don’t want this! As a huge fan of Bethesda’s titles we need to make sure they stay on the right path. Don’t let them succumb to their own greed.
